This involves designing solutions to realize the vision within financial budget guidelines and supporting the creations of details designs and design artifacts.
Application Architect is expected to provide guidance and highlight changes required through the development lifecycle.
Researching software and hardware products or services and keeping track of new technology, solving complex problems and keeping abreast of the big picture.
As an Application Architect you must build a strong network amongst your peers and other teams. Your will be working closely with the software engineering, technical operations and product development teams to ensure long term success.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for tracking best reuse of technology at a global level
- Ensure that proposals are technically sound, ready to be delivered and meet business needs
- Author technical articles or white papers based on experience to advocate our use of technology and skills
- Understand the details behind solutions and effectively communicate to stakeholders and third parties
- Directly or indirectly assist the business in understanding technology risks and present possible solutions for mitigation
- Working with the architecture group to dissect large projects before detailed designs are created with engineering
- Guide technology choices of software engineering teams with an aim to maximize standardisation
- Track that all needed technical artifacts are created using the SDLC process as a guide
- Be part of international architecture reviews and attend global architecture review when appropriate
- Document discussions, recommendations and mandates making sure that these are living up-to-date sources of information
- Own as part of the architecture group SOA service boundaries for your assigned projects, platforms and services
- Stay current in the technology landscape. Spreading information on new advances to software engineering as appropriate
- Convert medium/high level designs producing detailed architectural documents including diagrams, user stories from epics
- Work with software engineers and engineering leads to understand their platforms making sure they are correctly represented within the architecture group
- Evangelize the overall vision and technical choices making sure engineering groups feel part of the whole picture and relate their work to our long term strategic goals.
